About John Rundle
John Rundle is a teacher, photographer, musician and broadcaster. He frequently combines these talents, with teaching being a predominant activity in whatever sphere he is operating in at the time. He continues to teach photography and music, individually and in classes. In photography, his teaching covers everything from early photographic techniques to digital capture and editing. Having taught workshops in two countries, and covered everything from hobby courses to nationally accredited courses, John finds that the encouragement of students and the development of their proficiency is the most rewarding of all his activities.
John says the Crystal Portfolio is a personal interpretation of the way he sees the light from the crystal being photographed. So the image is not necessarily a realistic portrayal of the crystal's appearance.
Rather, it is the unveiling of the way it modifies light as seen through the eys of the photographer.
In almost all the cases the lighting source for the crystal is sunlight, occasionally modified by studio lighting for special effects. Most of the original photography has been on colour film, sometimes uploaded and modified digitally for enhancement. Most effects however have been achieved 'in camera'. Some images have not been modified in any way. Photographs have been shot using 35mm film and digital, and medium format.
The short music track on the Crystal page is meant to be a relaxing sound to aid in contemplation.
